Northampton County Council met on April 7 to hold a public hearing for Ordinance 814, as advertised at their last meeting.
Property owner Liviu Victor Rusu has objected to the replacement of the bridge and wants it removed entirely. Therefore, council has determined that it is necessary and appropriate to acquire a “Temporary Construction Easement” for a project involving the replacement of the bridge.
Through the ordinance, Northampton County will temporarily be able to cross or otherwise use 412 square feet of Rusu’s property in accordance with project completion. The ordinance was adopted unanimously.
Also at the meeting, the council honored various high school students for their outstanding athletic achievement.
Among them were Easton Area HS freshman Aubre Krazer and Liberty HS senior Patrick Gilhool. Krazer was honored for her pioneering efforts as a female wrestler, while Gilhool was honored for his excellent performance and record as part of the LHS swim team.
Following complaints from former staff, residents, and other members of the public regarding Gracedale Nursing Home at multiple county council meetings, council seeks to conduct an overall study on the performance of Gracedale.
The study will include, but is not limited to: an analysis of revenue and expenditure, a determination of employee morale, and most importantly, a way for council to address any shortcomings.
County Council’s next meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. May 5 at 669 Washington St. and streamed live on the county’s YouTube page.
