Allentown Band, students to ‘Roar’

The Allentown Band “Side by Side Concert” presented “The Twenties Roar,” 4 p.m. May 1, Miller Symphony Hall, Allentown.

Allentown Band Conductor Ronald Demkee shared the podium with Loras Schissel, Conductor of the Virginia Grand Military Band and Senior Musicologist, Library of Congress, for a program of music from the 1920s.

The Allentown Band is joined by top high school musicians from the Lehigh Valley region for the second half of the program. Participating student musicians are selected based on their talent and the recommendation of their band directors.

The program was: Part 1, The Allentown Band: “St. Louis Blues March,” W.C. The concert was free and open to the public. There was reserved seating. Tickets were expected to be available at the door, Miller Symphony Hall, 23 N. Sixth St., Allentown.
