The Macungie Farmers Market announces the opening of its 16th annual farmers market season 4-7 p.m. May 12 on Lumber Street in Macungie Borough.

The farmers market will be open every Thursday May 12 through Oct. 27, rain or shine.

The Macungie Farmers Market hosts growers of locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables, along with artisans of handcrafted products such as fresh baked goods, cooking oils, soaps and crafts. This year there will also be locally produced wine, spirits and handcrafted beers available for purchase at the Market.

Along with samplings from the vendors, the May 12 season opener will include live goats from Jus Kiddin Around Farm, Out of Our Minds Art Studio in Kids’ Corner and live music provided by Nick Franclik.

The market has lots of great events planned for the season. Cooking demonstrations are returning on the first Thursday of each month. Out of Our Minds Art Studio is returning to Kids’ Corner on the second Thursday of each month through September. Local nonprofit organizations will attend the market along with market sponsors and local artisans and crafters will participate in the market each week.
