Morgenland holds annual Easter Egg Hunt

Morgenland Union Church, Orefield, held its annual Easter egg hunt April 16 bringing in a larger crowd than the previous year’s attendance.

With the aftermath of the pandemic, Morgenland is hoping to boost attendance through the different events and fundraisers offered to the general public, one of the most prominent being the annual children’s egg hunt.

Organizing the event was Morgenland’s president of the board and Sunday school teacher, Sue Langley.

Langley has been organizing the event for over 10 years.

“I’ve been doing it ever since I was little, and I love it when the kids come out for the fun of it,” Langley said.

Twenty-five children, ranging from preschool through seventh grade, arrived to enjoy the egg hunt being offered by the church.

Because of the diversity in age, the church’s backyard was divided into four different sections based on grade level: preschool, kindergarten through second, third through fourth, and fifth through seventh grade.

Despite the overcast weather, many kids were energized to fill their baskets with eggs and candy.

“All you can hope for is that it doesn’t rain,” Langley said. “So long as the weather holds out, it’s a good time in my book.”

Indeed, it was a great time as all the different age groups raced across the yard to collect as many eggs as possible.

These included 12 special eggs that when collected would earn the holder one of the 12 chocolate prizes Morgenland presented.

Morgenland is set to have two more fundraiser events within the coming weeks, the first being a barbecue chicken dinner sponsored by Kauffman’s BBQ Chicken 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 30 at the church.

For tickets and more details, contact Brenda at 610-398-1214.

The second fundraiser is sponsored by Vince’s Famous Cheesesteaks, with food trucks, catering and concessions being offered to help finance the church.

This fundraiser will be held 2-7 p.m. May 5.
