Additional sponsors of the commendation include Ryan MacKenzie, R-134th, Zach Mako, R-183rd and Mike Schlossberg, D-132nd who each represent a portion of Parkland School District in Harrisburg.

Day offered general opening comments.

“There are so many amazing administrators in Parkland School District. You were here to transition full steam.”

Day went on to say, “Rod was always a person who could bring stability with his nice demeanor. Through professional excellence, he could affect the fiber of the community.

“Rod had remarkable knowledge and gave exemplary service to students and staff.”

Troutman added his thoughts on the matter.

“Thank you, Gary. It’s a great honor. I appreciate your work for the district as well.”

Board member Rob Cohen provided remarks.

‘You have maintained a high standard for all of us. You have been an inspiration. You have set a standard for us to shoot for.”

Board vice-president Carol Facchiano stated, “What a great achievement. You’ve now been recognized at the state level.”

Troutman began his career in education as a teacher in New Jersey for eight years.

He then began 27 years of service at Parkland in various administrative positions, including director of curriculum, principal of Orefield and Springhouse middle schools, assistant principal at the high school and lastly, assistant superintendent.

His administrative tenure is one of the longest running periods an individual has held in the district.

He plans to retire Sept. 2.
