Scouts serve dinner

Boy Scout Troop 93, of Northampton, served spaghetti dinners to patrons and troop members April 2 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 19th Street and Lincoln Avenue.

The funds raised will benefit the troop, according to Scoutmaster Steve Bindics, who said the troop does not charge fees for membership.

“We do these events to raise money instead of dues,” Bindics said.

Bindics added he was pleased with the steady stream of patrons for the dinner, which included spaghetti, meatballs, salad, garlic bread, ice cream and drinks.

The meal was for either takeout or eat-in.

Albert Czananer sold dinner tickets and greeted patrons as they paid for their dinners.

Troop 93, of the Minsi Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America, was formed in February 1943. The troop is sponsored by St. Paul’s UCC.

The troop has 15 members and is growing, with two nearing Eagle Scout preparation. Bindics said one of the Scouts nearing Eagle status is contemplating a project at Northampton’s Canal Street Park.

“He wants to do something with the planned monarch butterfly waystation,” Bindics said.
