Josephine F. Shemanski, 93, formerly of Coplay, died April 20, 2022. She was the wife of the late Dr. Walter E. Shemanski for 52 years.

Born in Buttonwood, Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie (Ruzanski) Sudo.

She was a former mayor of Coplay for 16 years.

She was a former member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church choir and the Altar and Rosary Society.

She was a member of Coplay American Legion Auxiliary, Allentown YMCA Auxiliary, Coplay Indoor Garden Club, Nazareth Chrysanthemum Club, Indianland Garden Club, Senior Citizens of Coplay and the Whitehall Coplay Chemical People.

She is survived by three sons, Walter J. and his wife Priscilla of Cherryville, Joseph and his wife Theresa of Cherryville and Daniel J. and his wife Michelle of Northampton; a daughter, Karen A. of Cherryville; three grandsons, Michael, Nigel and Cade; and five great-grandchildren, Arabelle, Emilia, Bianca, Hayden and Kipley.
