Hokendauqua: Community egg hunt is rescheduled for May 7
The Whitehall Township community egg hunt has been rescheduled for 11 a.m. May 7 at Whitehall Parkway, 4689 S. Church St.
“Come join us for our community egg hunt where over 500 toy-filled plastic eggs will be hidden, including several prize eggs,” the township website states.
Participants for the event must register on site between 10 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
There will be three age groups - 5 years old and younger, 6 to 8 years old and 9 to 10 years old. There is a 10-egg limit for the hunt.

Whitehall Township will hold an electronics, recycling and document shredding event, scheduled for 9 a.m.-1 p.m., or until trucks are full, May 7 at Whitehall High School, 3800 Mechanicsville Road. This event, where you stay in your vehicle for drop-off, is for township residents only; proof of residency will be required.
Many items do not have a fee; however, there are some that do require a charge. Those lists can be found on the Whitehall Township Facebook page. You are asked to have exact change or a check, made out to Responsible Recycling Services, prepared if you are dropping off items that require a fee. Money or a check inside an envelope is preferred.
The free document shredding has a limit of 10 boxes.

A Mother’s Day Run for the Roses half-marathon, 5-K and 10-K event is planned 8 a.m.-2 p.m. May 8 starting at Saylor Park, 245 N. Second St., Coplay.

Mark your calendar for the free annual fishing derby, sponsored by Whitehall Township Recreation Bureau. The event, which is open to children 15 years old and younger, will be May 28 at Hokendauqua Park, 3417 Lehigh St.
Registration will be 8-8:45 a.m., and the contest runs 9 a.m.-noon.
More than 100 trout will be stocked. First-, second- and third-place awards will be given in four age groups - 6 years old and younger, 7-9 years old, 10-12 years old and 13-15 years old. There will be a prize for the overall biggest fish.
You must bring your own bait and tackle.
Refreshments are provided by Hokendauqua Park and Playground Association.

Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce, Whitehall Township and Whitehall Historical Preservation Society are organizing the first-ever Whitehall Heritage Fest, set for 1-5 p.m. June 25. The festival will feature local vendors, live music, family activities, historical re-enactments and more.
