Egypt/Cementon: Civil War encampment, skirmish event set for April 30, May 1

The public is invited to visit a Civil War encampment and skirmish 9 a.m.-6 p.m. April 30 and 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. May 1.

The event, featuring the Union Volunteers, will be held at Whitehall Parkway, 4689 S. Church St.

There is no admission fee, but donations will be accepted.

The event will include narrated military drills, firing demonstrations and trench battle re-enactments. See what life was like for Civil War soldiers.

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church youth group’s Egypt Shine Car Wash fundraiser continues through April 30.

To support the fundraiser, enter the code 43310 at the kiosk before you choose your wash.

The youth group of Shepherd of the Hills 4331 Main St., Egypt, will host a roast beef lunch 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. May 1.

The meal will include beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, two vegetables, roll and dessert. Choose to dine in or carry out.

The Whitehall-Coplay Middle School Zephyrs baseball team will play Allentown Central Catholic at Egypt Park’s Curt Simmons Field 4 p.m. May 4.

Hunt for more than 500 toy-filled eggs and prize eggs at the pre-Mother’s Day egg hunt May 7 at Whitehall Parkway, 4689 S. Church St.

Register your child 10-10:45 a.m. The egg hunt begins 11 a.m.

Age groups include 5 years old and younger, ages 6-8 and 9-10 years old. There is a 10-egg limit per child.

Laurel Fire Company, 5114 Third St., Cementon, will be hosting an all-you-can-eat Mother’s Day breakfast 8-11:30 a.m. May 8.

The menu includes scrambled eggs, two different kinds of meat, hash browns, toast, French toast, coffee and juice.

There will be a basket raffle during the breakfast.

The Timberidge neighborhood annual yard sale will take place 7 a.m.-1 p.m. May 21.

The rain date is planned for May 22.

More than 100 households will be participating.

Timberidge is located off Levans Road in North Whitehall Township, just west of Egypt. For GPS directions, enter the address Black Forest Drive, Coplay.

Egypt Community Church, 4129 S. Church St., is accepting registrations for Vacation Bible School, which will be 6-8:30 p.m. June 20-24.

Children entering preschool through sixth grade are eligible to attend. Children must be potty trained.
