Police responding to a reported domestic disturbance around 6:40 p.m. April 20 arrested a man on numerous charges including arson.
A woman in the 900 block of Carlton Avenue told officers her adult son had doused her car with gasoline and attempted to set it on fire.
Geroge Dimitrios Papaiannou, the suspect, fled into the residence, where another person was trapped and where a fire was started as officers negotiated. Officers attempted to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, but were unsuccessful. The fire eventually spread to other parts of the house.
Papaioannou eventually exited the home and was taken into custody. The Bethlehem Fire Department was able to safely extinguish the fire at that time.
Papaioannou was transported to the hospital for injuries sustained from the fire and is charged with reckless endangerment, threats, arson, and a number of related violations.
