LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Track travels to PHS

Whitehall, Freedom, and Parkland track and field teams competed in a tri-meet on Tuesday at Parkland after weather-related postponements affected originally scheduled dual meets over the past two weeks.

While final scores were unavailable by Press deadlines, 18 Zephyrs scored points for Whitehall.

In girls results, Tessa Hopkins won the long jump with a distance of 15-01.00, and Alexandra Cook placed second in high jump with a height of 4-07.00.

Hopkins came in second in pole vault with a height of 9-00.00, and Arizona Marakovits placed third with a height of 8-00.00.

Electra Theagene was second in shot put with a throw of 29-04.00, and Brielle Schrey won javelin with a distance of 96-00.

“My first throw of the season this year was 102, so I’ve been trying to keep it consistent, but I haven’t beat that yet. I’m definitely working to get past my 107 P.R.,” said Schrey. “I always think about that, like, it’s OK I didn’t P.R., but I like getting points for my team. I like getting as many points as I can.

“I’ve been trying to work on my speed to run up and then keep it consistent throughout my crossovers too when it gets to the end of my throw. I also have to work on keeping my arm up when I’m about to throw.”

In boys results, Jaiden Lee took second place in the 100 meter dash in 11.8, Zachary Onsinyo placed third in the 200 meter dash in 24.7, and Vinson Eggleston came in second in the 400 meter dash in 55.2.

Gregory Sommer was second in pole vault with a height of 9-09.00, Jackson Glaser took second place in triple jump with a distance of 38-04.00, and Damonte Foreman came in third in high jump with a height of 5-07.00.

Aiden Tacker won shot put with a throw of 46-00.00, which he attributed to “really good coaching.”

“We broke a lot of stuff down on Monday and worked on my form and getting placement right, and Coach saying give it your all, and that’s what I did today,” he said.

Tacker also won discus with a throw of 121-03. Nicholas Souders came in second with a throw of 96-11, and Josef Grol’s throw of 91-00 won him third place.

“Taking first is a big thing in this meet, especially with having three teams here,” Tacker said. “Two meets ago, I was coming off of getting beat for the first time all year, and not doing too hot, so it was kind of like building back up and trying to get back up to where I was, and then hopefully surpass that 128 P.R.”

Tacker, along with the rest of the Zephyrs, are looking forward to competing again this Saturday in the Zephyr Invitational.

“I think we’re gonna work this week on breaking it down even more and really nitpicking and seeing what’s not working because I’ve been talking to people, and they’re like, you know, once you hit that part where there’s that mental block, when you get past that, you’ll be throwing fifties and high forties for shot put, and you know, it’s the same thing [with discus]. There’s that point where everything flows together, and that’s what we’re gonna try and do this week.”

Souders took second place in javelin with a distance of 150-11.

Whitehall’s 4x4 relay team of Brenden Sargent, Connolly, Ian Werner, and Austin Hedrick ended Tuesday’s meet with a first place finish in 3:47.9.
