EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently a senior at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My parents names are Mary and Joe; I have an older brother named Jack and my dog, Minnie.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject changes from year to year, but this year my favorite has been my accounting class because of my teacher Mrs. Nero. I changed my major to accounting because I fell in love with the course.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I received an achievement in citizenship award, an award for academic excellence, and a place in National Honor Society.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has COVID-19 impacted these activities?

A. I am a member of National Honor Society and COVID-19 has limited some of the typical events and activities we have been able to participate in this year. I am also the manager of the boys lacrosse team, along with my friends Katelyn Cole and Angelina Rizzotti and given the season has just recently started, COVID-19 has not affected anything yet.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge to date was deciding on what college I am going to be attending next year. I eventually decided to go to the University of Tennessee and I feel very confident in my decision.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. My goal after high school is to be an accounting major at the University of Tennessee.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire my grandmothers, Judy Minahan and Carol Urner, because I think they are prime examples of the kind of person I aspire to be when I am older. They are both kind and compassionate and have impeccable skills in the kitchen. I also admire my mom, Mary Minahan, because she is one of the most hardworking people I know. My mom works a full-time job and still is able to make time for my brother and I everyday. She’s my best friend and is incredibly supportive of everything I do.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered for my academic success and for always being true to myself.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. The advice I would give to my peers is to surround yourself with people who make you a better version of yourself and to not be afraid to let go of relationships that are not good for you.
