Sheckler Elementary School will begin PSSA testing April 25.

Tests will continue through April 27.

Grades 3 and 4 will be tested in language arts during this time.

Catasauqua Area School District Board of Education will next meet 7 p.m. May 10 in the conference room of the district administration office, 201 N. 14th St., Catasauqua.

Sheckler Elementary will have an early dismissal May 11.

Students will be dismissed 1:30 p.m.

CASD Board of Education members unanimously voted to approve Robert Kucharczuk as the new Sheckler principal, effective July 1, at $110,000. He will replace Eric Dauberman, who is starting a new position as director of academic recovery, as of July 1.

“We have a great candidate,” Dauberman said of Kucharczuk during the April 12 school board meeting. “We’re happy to have him on board.”

Additionally, the CASD board approved to retirement of Ronald DeMaio, Sheckler Elementary teacher and assistant principal, after 33 years of service, effective Aug. 18.

According to Dauberman, interviews are underway for a new assistant principal.
