At a meeting of the Kempton Lions Club April 6, the club received a grant of $40,000 from the Lions of Pennsylvania Foundation.

The grant was awarded in support of the club’s goal of erecting a new pavilion at Leaser Lake.

The check was presented by Lions Past District Governor Rich Taylor, a member of the board of the Lions of Pennsylvania Foundation.

The Kempton Lions Club has held several club fundraisers and received individual donations specifically in support of the pavilion project.

The Lions of Pennsylvania grant will be part of the ongoing overall effort to fully fund the project.

The Kempton Lions had previously partnered with the Leaser Lake Heritage Foundation as part of a coordinated effort to install an accessible fishing pier, an accessible kayak launch and accessible picnic tables at Leaser Lake.

The pavilion is planned to be a welcome addition to this site.

Currently, there is no pavilion at the lake.

At the time, that effort also received support from the Lions of Pennsylvania Foundation.

According to Frank Lyter, president of the Kempton Lions, “The scope and cost of this structure is greater than what a single Lions Club can do on their own. That’s why this grant is so crucial to enabling us to meet our goal. This pavilion will be a valued community asset for decades to come.”

Fundraising efforts will continue in the months ahead.
