BASD Pre-K Counts registration

The Bethlehem Area School District Pre-K classrooms in Calypso, Donegan, Fountain Hill and Marvine ES are fully funded through the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts grant. State certified teachers instruct students from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on school days following the BASD calendar for 2022-2023. Students must be four years old as of October 1, 2022. Free breakfast and lunch are provided each school day. Efforts are made to place students in the Pre-K classroom that is closest to their home, but this does not always occur. The district does not provide transportation.

Families must meet specific income guidelines based on family size and income. The total annual family income must be less than 300 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. There are other specific criteria. Space is limited; not all applicants will be accepted for enrollment into this program.

BASD earns 6 state PR awards

The Bethlehem Area School District received six “2021 Excellence in Education Communication” awards from the Pennsylvania School Public Relations Association. The annual Excellence in Education Communications Contest entries reflect the scope of work often undertaken by communications professionals.

“Our district takes our responsibility to communicate information to our staff, school families and the community very seriously. We are proud that our communications efforts have been recognized with these awards,” said Bethlehem Area School District Superintendent Dr. Joseph J. Roy.

The BASD earned the following awards for video, writing and social media projects: Award of Excellence – Writing Category, Press Release – New Band Director Announcement; Award of Excellence – COVID-19 and/or Crisis Management, COVID Video Updates; Award of Excellence – COVID-19 and/or Crisis Management; Award of Merit – Video Category, BASD Flash Briefing; Award of Merit – Video Category, Senior Showcase 2021; and Award of Merit – Video Category, Employee of the Month Recognition.
