“Two of Eyer’s former tech ed teachers, Ken Kackenmeister and Matt Staack, came out of retirement to help build sets for us, along with Craig, Ken’s son, as his daughter Laura is in sixth grade at Eyer and is one of our cast members,” Najarian said.
“I’m forever grateful to work at a place like Eyer. When I found out I had to quarantine during tech week, people jumped right in to help out. They understand how big a production this is and how much hard work the kids have put into it. I’m so thankful for our amazing team and Molly, my co-director, who kept things rolling without missing a beat!” Najarian added.
“The students in the cast and crew had a big learning curve this year, since many of them have never been on our stage before. There is so much to figure out, but they’re doing a great job!”
Najarian also said this is a huge show for costumes. “Some of the cast have five or six costume changes. Mrs. Emily Houck, costume supervisor, has been hard at work with her team of student assistants sewing, dyeing and sorting costumes for several weeks.”
“One of our biggest challenges was figuring out the forks, spoons and knives for Be Our Guest. It took a lot of trial and error and a fair amount of duct tape, but they look great and we’re very excited for the audience to see that number,” Houck said.
