Catasauqua StrEAT Fest scheduled for April 9

The Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce is bringing back the Catasauqua StrEAT Fest for its second year, planned 11 a.m.-3 p.m. April 9.

“Last year’s StrEAT Fest was extremely well received, both as our first festival of the 2021 season and the first festival the Whitehall Area Chamber held ‘post’ the COVID-19 shutdown. People were ready for spring and ready to be out and about in a fun atmosphere,” said Kylie Adams-Weiss, assistant vice president of affiliated chambers for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. “We’re happy to have been working full steam ahead with the borough of Catasauqua to support our local businesses and to entice the community to come out for a fun afternoon in 2022!”

Festivities begin on Front Street in Catasauqua and will feature food trucks and vendors, as well as crafters, local businesses and nonprofit vendors.

The festival will also feature live music on two stages. Third Hand Acoustic will perform 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., and Kendal Conrad performs 2-3 p.m. at the bandshell on Bridge Street. Social Call Duo performs 1-3 p.m. at the Gas House Dance Hall, 311 Front St.

“We have been working hand in hand with Catasauqua’s borough staff to ensure this event will be fun for all who attend,” said Jessica O’Donnell, executive vice president of affiliated chambers for the GLVCC. “Last year, we were forced to change plans and pivot frequently, and we’re grateful for much smoother sailing in 2022, much to the credit and support of our local police department and fire police. This festival will bring new visitors to our small businesses and to see the great downtown region of Catasauqua.”

Melvin’s Farm Stand will host the YMCA on its property, featuring a color run sprint to provide fun family-oriented entertainment. Businesses like Blondies Cupcakes, Qi Spa, Blocker’s Coffeehouse and Romero’s House of Style will be open, allowing festivalgoers to check out their wares and offerings. Taylor House Brewing Company and Triple Sun Spirits will offer adult beverages.

Participating food trucks include Ridge Runner BBQ, Slide on By, Mon & Mel’s Sweet Scoops, Take A Taco, Van Pelt Hot Dog Co., RK Mobile Foods, Red Robin Food Truck, Josie’s Fancy Funnels and Maldonado Steaks.

“Between the handmade craft items, great food and small businesses, there will be a little bit of something for everyone,” Adams-Weiss said.

“Most importantly, we are looking to gather safely and enjoy the delicious cuisines our businesses and vendors will be serving up,” O’Donnell added.

Sponsors include presenting sponsor, Columbia Care; entertainment sponsor, Trulieve; safety sponsor, SJ Thomas; family fun sponsor: ATA Financial and Remington and Vernick Engineers; comfort station sponsors, Dunn Twiggar and Truist; music sponsors, Blocker’s Coffeehouse, Biery’s Port Body Works and The Gas House Dance Hall; and media sponsor, Lehigh Valley Press.
