The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) Production Arts Department presented “Little Shop of Horrors” (Broadway Version), March 17-20. One of the longest running off-Broadway shows, “Little Shop of Horrors” tells the story of floral assistant Seymour Krelborn and his discovery of an out-of-this-world plant, Audrey II, whoichlures Krelborn in with promises of fame and fortune if he continues to feed her blood. When Seymour finally sees Audrey II as the manipulative mastermind that she is, the ultimate sacrifice has already been made, and the result is global domination.
Director Rae Labadie shares, “We live in a world where we must constantly navigate information against sources and opinions against morals. ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ is a comedically cautionary tale about the dangers of the captivating spread of misinformation, our societal expectations of the status quo, and our individual desires to find ‘somewhere that’s green’.”
“Little Shop of Horrors (Broadway Version)” was presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials were also supplied by MTI.
