An underwater love story washes on stage with “Disney’s The Little Mermaid,” 7 p.m. April 7, 8, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. April 9, Masson Auditorium, Allentown Central Catholic High School, 301 N. Fourth St., Allentown.

Central Catholic production director Kateri Swavely-Verennai is assisted by Choreographer Adrienne Motley, Music Director Hunter Chadeayne and Technical Director Jeremiah Motley.

With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and book by Doug Wright, the musical is based on the 1989 Disney animated film of the same title, which is based on the Danish fairy tale “The Little Mermaid” by Hans Christian Andersen published in 1837.

The 2008 Broadway production received two Tony Award nominations.

Songs include “Part of Your World,” “Under the Sea,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” “Her Voice” and “Kiss the Girl.”
