William W. Bandura, 92, of Bethlehem and formerly of Hokendauqua, died March 27, 2022. He was the husband of the late Ellen M. (Deppen) and Stella J. (Henits) Bandura for the past 37 years.
Born in Lower Macungie Township, he was a son of the late Harry and Mary (Licholat) Bandura.
He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He earned the rank of staff sergeant. He was assigned to Headquarters Company 1st Army at Fort Jay, Governor’s Island, N.Y.
He dedicated his life to the American Legion for more than 69 years. His family was a mainstay of Jones-Quigg American Legion Post 739, Hokendauqua, for decades, where he was a five-time commander and service officer for more than 20 years. He was a Lehigh County American Legion Commander for one term and adjutant for 13 years. He was deputy commander of the American Legion 14th District for 16 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Denise A., Joan M. Mohr with her husband Ralph, Jayne M. and Barbara E. with her fiance Dan Trinkle; two sons, William W. Bandura Jr. with his wife Louise and Paul S. Bandura; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Catherine Duchodni.
He was predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, John, Paul and Stephen Bandura.
There will be a calling time 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service 11 a.m., April 1 at the funeral home, 444 Pershing Blvd., Whitehall, 18052.
Contributions may be made to either Jones-Quigg American Legion Post 739 or to St. John the Baptist Church to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, both c/o the funeral home.
