‘The Addams Family School Edition’ opens March 30

Emmaus High School will present “The Addams Family School Edition” 7 p.m. March 30 through April 2 and 2 p.m. April 2 and 3 in the EHS Auditorium.

“The Addams Family, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents. The show’s upbeat, modern songs include ‘When You’re An Addams,’ ‘One Normal Night,’ ‘Pulled,’ ‘Full Disclosure’ and ‘Crazier Than You,’” according to Artistic Director/Producer Jill Kuebler and Theatrical Rights Worldwide.

“We are proud to bring The Addams Family School Edition to the Emmaus High School stage,” Kuebler said. “Our students are incredibly gifted in many ways; their commitment to using their talents in all aspects of theater in the pursuit of a common goal is remarkable. I am truly blessed to work with such amazing people. The growth that results from participation in something larger than oneself is unequaled, teaching important life lessons that I hope my students carry with them long after the final curtain falls.

“This show would not have been possible without the dedication of many colleagues, the talents of whom I value beyond words. Their willingness to give of themselves relentlessly throughout the process sets a shining example for our students of the collaborative effort necessary to produce quality musical theater. Our students’ appreciation of this show and of musical theater as a vital art form that teaches collaboration, respect, and discipline constantly reaffirms my belief in the positive impact of the arts on the lives of young people.”
