Donald Costello Margraf
Donald Costello Margraf, 87, of Lower Macungie Township, died March 22, 2022, in Parkland Manor, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Sara “Sally” Jane (Staudenmeier) Margraf. Born in New York City, he was a son of the late William G. Margraf Sr. and Katharine H. (Carr) Margraf.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Villanova University in 1959 and attended the University of Rochester School of Management from 1969 to 1971.
He owned and operated insurance agencies as an agent and broker. Previously he worked as a manager and specialist with Western Union Telephone Company (N.Y.), Ingersoll Rand Company (N.J.) and Xerox Corp. (Webster and Rochester, N.Y.).
He served his country as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, where he was a 3rd Degree Life Member of the Knights of Columbus, Calvary Council #528.
He was a member of the American Society for Quality Control, National Association of Accountants (N.Y.) and the National Independent Agents Association.
He was a member of both the Villanova University Alumni Association and Villanova Varsity Cub and on the board of directors 2001-2014. He was a continuous supporter of the university annual fund drives, athletic teams, Villanova Baseball Alumni, the Blue-White Club and the Scholarship Foundation.
He was a member of the PIAA, N.Y. High School Federation, IAABO and CYO Basketball Referee’s Organizations.
He is survived by sons, Donald Charles and his wife, Elizabeth, of Fairfax Station, Va., Douglas Owen and his wife, Diane, of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Deborah Marie and her husband, Mark Fleming, of Macungie; grandsons, Andrew and Collin Fleming and Ryan. He was predeceased by siblings, Elizabeth T. Beckstead, Georgianna Doerschuck, Robert M., Joseph C., William G. Jr. and Peter F. Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. April 2 in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown. Call 9 to 10 a.m. in the church. Arrangements were made by the Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., Allentown.
