Coplay: Apply by March 31 to help with pool

Coplay Borough is looking for a person or organization to run the Coplay Pool concession stand. People are also needed to fill the positions of pavilion cleaner, pool manager and pool lifeguards.

The deadline to apply is March 31.

Additionally, the public works department is planning to hire two part-time summer help workers.

The heritage committee of Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., is planning a country western dance 3-6 p.m. April 3.

Joe Kroboth Band will provide music.

The committee is also planning a Viennese ball 3-6 p.m. April 24. Suggested attire is black tie, including tuxedo or suit for men and ballgown or fancy dress with hair adornments for women. Enjoy an elegant event like Austrian royalty of the 1800s.

The Emil Schanta Band will provide entertainment.

Additionally, the committee is planning its Oktoberfest event in September. Stay tuned for more information.

The next soup, bread and discussion event at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., is set for 6-7 p.m. April 6.

This is a fellowship event and features a simple soup and bread meal and a discussion of current happenings.

The church is continuing its filling sale, with pickup set April 8 and 9.

The deadline to order is April 1. Call Karen at 610-653-2816.

The Coplay Cemetery Association will meet 11:45 a.m. April 10 in the social hall at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St. All are invited to join the group.

American Club of Coplay is restarting its monthly hoagie sales.

Dates are April 13, 19 and 20.

Offerings include tuna or regular hoagies or tuna or ham and cheese sandwiches.

Coplay Mayor Stephen Burker is developing a “staycation” document containing all the activities a Coplay resident can enjoy throughout the summer without leaving the borough.

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., is seeking volunteers to make pierogies.

Contact the church at 610-262-2417 to join the team.

The church is also in need of volunteers for the summer picnic, held the first Sunday in August.

St. Peter’s plans to offer companion niche ossuariums to church members for placement of remains at the cemetery on Hokendauqua Street. They are touted as less costly than a casket burial.
