ACCHS presents ‘Disney’s The Little Mermaid’

Allentown Central Catholic High School will present “Disney’s The Little Mermaid” April 7, 8 and 9. Tickets are still available online at www.showtix4u.com/event-details/62493.

On March 24, the cast enjoyed a visit from Laura Bell Bundy during a workshop presented through Masters of Broadway! She brought advice, energy and inspiration to our show and the cast learned so much from her. We are grateful for her time and her professional touches she provided to our scenes.

Viking lacrosse midfielder Ben Scandone was recently named the first Pansini Law Group’s Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the season. The award recognizes senior and junior lacrosse players who excel in academics, service and athletics. Congratulations Ben.

Viking lacrosse is sponsoring a Dine and Donate fundraiser with P.J. Whelihan’s Broadway location 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. March 30. The lacrosse team will receive 15 percent of all dine in or take out purchases when you show their flyer which can be found on ACCHS’s social media pages.

Central’s Science Olympiad team competed in the Central East Regional Science Olympiad at Kutztown University March 17. Eighteen high schools and over 400 students competed from Berks, Lehigh, Northampton, Northumberland and Schuylkill counties.

Events were held in a variety of science disciplines such as biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, computers and technology. Our ACCHS team placed seventh overall. Congratulations to our medal winners: First Place, Write It, Do It: Josh Devers and Nick Santos; Third Place, Wright Stuff: Josh Devers and Nick Santos; Fourth Place, Anatomy and Physiology: Sophia Steckel and Olivia Ulicny; Fourth Place, Astronomy: Cooper Mello and Connor O’Neil; Fourth Place, It’s About Time: Hunter Ramsey and Leo Koons; Fourth Place, Ornithology: Christopher Oliviera and Simon Ernst; Fourth Place, Codebusters: Hunter Ramsey and Cooper Mello.

Model UN participants competed at Lehigh University March 19. Medal winners include: Toby Broun, First Runner Up, Best Resolution Social and Humanitarian; Anna Edwards – Best Delegate Environmental; Ben McMurtrie, Second Runner Up, Best Resolution Women and Children; Catherine Raynock – First Runner Up, Best Delegate Women and Children and Kaysiana Yeager – Second Runner Up, Best Resolution Environmental. Congratulations to our medal winners. Congratulations to our senior participants, Josh LaRock, Cooper Mello, Connor O’Neil, Josh Devers, Will McGlynn and Justin Khoury.

The ACCHS swim and dive team traveled to Bucknell University March 17 and 18 to compete in the state competition. Team members included Ryan Norris, AJ Janis, James Manley, Nathan Harris, Sabrina Yurconic, Grace Shucavage, Aidan Wakstein, Mimi Norris, Tyla Block, PJ Kofroth and Nick Janis. Congratulations to Mimi Norris who finished 11th in the state for the 200 in swimming.

Sister Sophia Marie Peralta, the Rev. Giusseppe Esposito and our Vikettes visited partner school, St. Ann in Emmaus to color and make crafts with the students. Great job by Pearl Bixler, Audrey Boardman, Nora Casciano, Margaret Coassolo, Constance Cordova, Rachel Fleck, Riley Horoshko, Ella Patterson, Annabelle Penchishen, Maeve Stehly and Emma Schultz.
