William B. McCoach, 90, of Brandon, Florida, died peacefully on March 18, 2022, at LifePath Hospice House, Sun City Center, Florida. He was a son of the late Robert and Williamina (Young) McCoach. He was the husband of the late Evelyn (Martin) McCoach.
He served in the Korean War.
He worked in various capacities for the Diocese of Allentown. He was the “Voice Of Lehigh Athletics” and of District 11 wrestling. During his 29 years of sportscasting, he was the Pennsylvania announcer for just about every team at Lehigh (with a streak of 560 consecutive basketball games from 1988-2009) and many District 11 and Northeast Region wrestling tournaments. He was the announcer for Bethlehem Catholic HS wrestling and football. He is a member of the District 11 Wrestling Hall of Fame.
He volunteered with the non-profit organization, Bread of Refuge, founded by his son Scott and Scott’s wife, Sharon.
He is survived by two sons, Bill (Katie) of Bryn Mawr; and Scott (Sharon) of Brandon, Florida, with whom he resided the past three years; two grandchildren, Tiffany and Christopher McCoach of Brandon, Florida; Will and Andrew McCoach of Bryn Mawr; cousins, nieces and nephews.
