New self storage and day care proposed in Lower Macungie

A conditional use hearing was held March 17 at the Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting for a proposed development for Posh Properties at 4316-4344 Hamilton Blvd., near the Ciocca Subaru dealership with Interstate 78/Route 309 and Hamilton Boulevard bordering it.

The proposed project is to build 112,000 square foot three story self-storage units and a one story day care with a playground. The access road would be Schuler Lane. The vacant lots used to have a local iron works business.

The lots would be consolidated into one and a tree line would divide the two businesses. Additional landscaping would be added to allow for the sparse planting which will be noticeable through the winter. This was approved by the commissioners.

Resolution 2022-19 is a modification of the Guardian Storage Land Development plan for a lot consolidation. This development is on the other side of Hamilton Boulevard near the new car sales lot of Ciocca Subaru. This resolution was approved.

Resolution 2022-20 is an extension of the 90-day deadline for Resolution 2022-01 for the Mertztown Road Land Development. This was approved.

The conditional use hearing for the DADD Pizza Macungie was approved by the commissioners. This project allows for an existing business to expand with a brewery. This property is located off Lower Macungie Road, in the Walmart shopping center.

The Woodmont Properties LLC conditional use hearing was approved. This allows for expansion of the development near Weis in Macungie with additional apartments.

The Emmaus Aquatic Club agreement from last year has been approved again for this year. Resolution 2022-23 is the formal agreement with the club and Lower Macungie Township. There is a reduction of costs as Lower Macungie Township is providing more of its own personnel.

There will be an executive session held over possible land acquisition.
