The celebrated Von Trapp family journeys across the stage in “The Sound of Music,” 7 p.m. March 24, 25, 26; 1 p.m. March 26, auditorium, Liberty High School, 1115 Linden St., Bethlehem.
Director and Vocal Director Julie Wydrzynski is assisted by Assistant Director Laura Mainiero, Choreographer Colette Boudreaux, Pit Director Allen Frank and Set Designer Ross MaKary.
With music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, the musical debuted on Broadway in 1959 with a revival in 1998.
The original Broadway production was nominated for nine Tony Awards, receiving five Tonys. An Academy Award-winning film version was released in 1965.
Songs include “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” “So Long, Farewell,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” and “Edelweiss.”
