Shelba J. (Grumbles) Mengel, 79, of New Tripoli, died March 13, 2022, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
She was the devoted wife of Franklin E. “Skip” Mengel, with whom she celebrated 55 years of marriage on April 14, 2021.
Born in San Saba, Texas, she was the daughter of Cecil and Willie (Carpenter) Grumbles.
She was a service representative with the Hartford Life Insurance Company, Allentown, until retirement.
She greatly enjoyed bird watching with her husband, and spending time with her beloved family.
In addition to her husband, her survivors include her daughter Susan J. Mengel-Snyder of New Tripoli; sons Michael D. (Jaime) Mengel of Ironton, and Gregory H. (Veronica) French of Brownsville, Ind.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother Bobby Grumbles of Denton, Texas.
She was predeceased by an infant son, John French.
There will be a private memorial service 10:30 a.m. March 19 in Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, PA 18066.
The Rev. Dr. Robert C. Santucci will officiate. There will be a public celebration of life gathering later this spring.
