James C. Van Fossen, 88, of Orefield, died March 11 2022, in his home after a long illness from Charcot-Marie Tooth (CMT).
He and his wife, Louise H. Van Fossen, were married 26 years.
Born Feb. 24, 1934, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late Eldred Winfield and Elizabeth (Remley) Van Fossen.
He graduated from Frederick High School in 1952, then worked for a finance company, which changed its name over the years.
He was an auditor traveling in 42 of the 50 states, Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
An avid bowler, loved traveling to the Phillies and Reading baseball games and watching the Washington Redskins.
He volunteered for Junior Achievement and Channel 39 On Air Auctions.
He was a Little League Baseball coach in Falls Church, Va.
He loved fireworks and would tell stories of how he set off fireworks in Falls Church.
He loved spending time at his sister and brothers-in-law cottage in Hoopers Island, Md.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by children Mark W. Van Fossen (Patricia) of Sanford, N.C., Deborah A. Choquette (Rick) and Cynthia M. Van Fossen, both of Pocomoke City, Md., Marian E. Van Fossen of Viera, Fla., Danielle L. Hutchinson (Scott) of Charleston, S.C., and Jon S. Schneck (Amy) of Old Zionsville; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters.
