‘Give them the old razzle dazzle’
The Roaring ’20s heat up the stage with “Chicago: High School Edition,” set for 7 p.m. March 18 and 19 and 2 p.m. March 20 at Catasauqua High School, 2500 W. Bullshead Road, Northampton.
The story follows chorus girl Roxie Hart as she murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap - until he finds out he has been duped and then turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “merry murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the “American dream”: fame, fortune and acquittal.
With music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and book by Ebb and Bob Fosse, “Chicago” is based on a 1926 play by Maurine Dallas Watkins.
Note the suggested age range for this performance is 9 years and older.
