An annoyed ogre finds himself on a life-changing journey when “Shrek the Musical” travels to the Saucon Valley stage, 7 p.m. March 17, 18, 19; 2 p.m. March 20, auditorium, Saucon Valley High School, 2100 Polk Valley Road, Hellertown.
Based on the humorous picture book “Shrek” by William Steig and DreamWorks 2001 animation feature film, the production features music by Jeanine Tesori and lyrics and book by David Lindsay-Abaire.
“This is a feel good show that teaches all of us a lesson about how we should treat everyone, even if they are different,” says production Director Rody Gilkeson.
Assisting are Music Director Elizabeth Marsh-Gilkeson, Choreographer Meghan Viscomi, Assistant Director-Technical Director Brett Oliveira and Student Stage Manager Isabelle Zellers.
Premiering on Broadway in 2008, “Shrek” was nominated for eight Tony Awards, receiving one Tony.
Songs “Big Bright Beautiful World,” “Story of My Life,” “Morning Person” and “Who I’d Be.”
