DUI
A 51-year-old male, of Irvington, N.J., allegedly was found to be driving under the influence when an ambulance crew arrived to help a truck driver on Interstate 78, Salisbury Township, 2:24 p.m. Feb. 17, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The ambulance crew was dispatched for a truck driver having a medical episode, according to a media release. The driver allegedly was under the influence of drugs and was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest campus. Cetronia EMS also responded. The truck was towed from the scene.
Fleeing and eluding
A 42-year-old male, of Hamburg, allegedly led state police on a brief high speed chase after a traffic stop was attempted on Interstate 78 East, Salisbury Township, 10:59 a.m. Feb. 23, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. A trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2019 black Nissan Altima after the motorist was identified and it was verified he was driving with a DUI suspended license and also had multiple outstanding arrest warrants. The motorist fled in the area of South Fourth Street/West Rock Road before fleeing into Upper Saucon Township. The pursuit was ended by state police due to public safety concerns near Route 309/Route 378. Drug possession
A 19-year-old male, of Breinigsville, allegedly had marijuana at a traffic stop on Interstate 78, Salisbury Township, 8:08 a.m. Feb. 15, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville.
Hit and run
A vehicle fled an accident after allegedly slowing down for no apparent reason on Interstate 78, Salisbury Township, 8:59 p.m. Feb. 22, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The motorist was traveling in the center lane near mile marker 59.1 when the vehicle stopped suddenly resulting in the vehicle being rear-ended. The motorist then continued eastbound while the second vehicle needed to be towed from the accident scene. No one was injured. Yocum Towing and Recovery also responded. A Lancaster truck driver allegedly struck another vehicle while changing lanes on Interstate 78, prompting the driver to follow the truck into Berks County where it was stopped by police, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The truck, a 2021 Kenworth Northwest T880, was in the center lane of Interstate 78 westbound near mile marker 56, Salisbury Township, around 3:15 p.m. Feb. 28 when the driver changed lanes from the center to the right lane, striking a 2016 BMW 328i passenger car. The truck driver allegedly continued westbound without stopping at the accident scene. The truck was stopped by police on Kutztown Road at Krause Road, Richmond Township, Berks County.
