Salisbury police introduce community liaison

Salisbury Township Police Department Chief of Police Kevin Soberick introduced Candice Girandola, community intercession specialist, Pinebrook Family Answers, at the Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners’ Feb. 24 meeting.

Girandola is stationed at the Salisbury Township Police Department two days per week. Her jurisdiction is Lehigh County. She began as a liaison to the Salisbury Township Police Department in March 2021.

“Her role is to assist the police department in mental health social services calls,” Soberick said.

“I love my job. It’s a great department to work with,” Girandola said.

According to the Pinebrook website, the Police Department Mental Health Liaison program works with the Allentown Police Department and other Lehigh County police departments to assess individuals with mental illness who come into contact with police in order to refer the individuals to the appropriate services, reduce recidivism and promote recovery.

Pinebrook has offices in Allentown, Easton and Wind Gap.
