Programs planned for March at LV Active Life

Lehigh Valley Active Life, 1633 W. Elm St., Allentown, has planned the following 7-10 p.m. Saturday dances in March.

Cover charge includes light refreshments.

·March 12: “Bootschootin” with Peggy Sue Country Dance

·March 19: “KATO”

·March 26: “DJ Jerry Deane”

The senior center will also be offering the following programs:

·March 15, 22 and 29: Instructor Grace Conti will offer “Tap True Beginner” 9-10 a.m. Tap shoes are required.

·March 14, 21 and 28: “Line Dance Beginner” led by instructor Peggy Sue Tobias will be held 12:15 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

·March 10, 17, 24 and 31: Bring your project - knitting, crocheting or other needlework and join the “Knit and Chat Group,” 9-11:30 a.m.

Every Thursday, the group knits a little, chats a little, exchanges views on everything and learns something about each other and their talents. All levels welcome to attend. Free to members.

·March 10, 17, 24 and 31: Instructor Gina will be offering a “Quilting and Sewing Group” 9 a.m. to noon or noon to 3 p.m.

Learn how to quilt, if you are a beginner. All skill levels are welcome to attend.

·March 11, 18 and 25: Genealogy class led by Judy Ritter Martens, 9-11 a.m.

Learn how to trace your family tree and research your roots through Ancestry.com.

Bring a laptop if you have one or a laptop will be provided.

This program is free to members.

·March 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28 and 30: Instructor Trisha Baker offers an arts and crafts class 9-11:30 a.m. This class is free to members.

·March 9, 16, 23 and 30: Instructor Sue Bauder will host an “Art For Everyone” class, noon-3 p.m.

·March 11, 18 and 25: “Art For Everyone” with instructor Sue Bauder, 9-11:30 a.m.

Whatever medium you choose for both these classes, help is available.

Both new and advanced students are welcome to attend these classes.

·March 15, 22 and 29: Instructor Bonny Batman offers a drop-in ceramics class 9-11:30 a.m. or 12:30-3:30 p.m.

·March 11: Instructor Dr. Charles Bonos will present “World War II: Battle of Midway” lecture/discussion, 2-3:30 p.m.

·March 14, 21 and 28: “Tai Chi Beginner” led by instructor Brian H. Kunsman will take place 12:30-1:30 p.m.

This class consists of a series of slow, flowing movements that promotes holistic benefits for the individual practitioner.

These benefits include improved balance and coordination, leg strength, cardiovascular health, mental concentration, stress relief.

·March 11, 18 and 25: Instructor Bob Donnelly will be offering “Tai Chi Exercise,” a holistic exercise to help reduce stress and promote physical well-being 10:30-11:30 a.m.

·Through March 31: Instructor Ed Nickles will led “Zumba Gold” 9 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 11 a.m. Fridays.

Dancers and non-dancers will enjoy this Latin inspired, dance fitness class, which is designed for seniors. The pace is slower than regular Zumba.

·March 14, 21 and 28: Instructor Michele Fisher will be offering “Barre,” a low impact toning class that blends the principals of Pilates, yoga, strength training and ballet to activate your entire body 10:15-11 a.m.

·March 10, 17, 24 and 31: “Mat Pilates” led by instructor Robert Comins will take place 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Mat Pilates is a strengthening and lengthening form of exercise focusing on the core muscles, but also strengthens the arms and legs.
