EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am a senior at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My parents Dave and Kimberly, two sisters Brooke and Taylor and Gunner, our dog.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is engineering because I enjoy having to think creatively and problem solve on a daily basis. I also have a strong interest in the curriculum covered in the engineering courses at EHS and the opportunity Project Lead the Way offers.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I received Principal’s Honor Roll from freshman to junior year, induction into National Honor Society, the Eastern Pennsylvania Officials Association Scholarship Award, Varsity Football Captain and am a two year varsity letter recipient.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has COVID-19 impacted these activities?

A. I am the treasurer of Student Government Association, a Hornet Ambassador and a member of National Honor Society. Certain events SGA is in charge of coordinating were canceled due to the pandemic, especially during the 2020-2021 school year. This year, we were fortunate to hold many of our events like Homecoming, Powderpuff, Mr. Emmaus and more.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge is avoiding complacency. It can be to take the easier way out while in high school and take on a lackadaisical personality. I challenge myself each day to avoid being satisfied with where I am at in life and strive to constantly improve.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. My goal after high school is to attend the United States Military Academy or join the Army ROTC Corps of Cadets at Virginia Tech University and pursue a degree in the field of engineering. My career goal is to become an engineer officer in the Army and serve my country.

Q. Whom do you admire and why?

A. I admire Marcus Luttrell, who is also known as the “Lone Survivor” of Operation Red Wings. I read his novel during my sophomore year and was truly inspired by his journey and acts of bravery and courage he demonstrated while serving for his country.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I want to be remembered as a student who served as a mentor and a leader for my younger peers. Also, as a hardworking student and respectable person.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Although high school may seem like a long time, it was the quickest four years of my life. Enjoy your time in high school and cherish the moments you spend with your friends, teammates and classmates.
