Roughies Report: Drama Club to perform ‘Chicago’ March 18-20 at high school

Members of Catasauqua High School Drama Club are proud to present their upcoming spring musical - “Chicago,” the high school edition.

In roaring 1920s Chicago, chorus girl Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap - that is, until he finds out he’s been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “merry murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the “American dream”: fame, fortune and acquittal.

All performances - 7 p.m. March 18 and 19 and 2 p.m. March 20 - will be held in the auditorium at CHS, 2500 W. Bullshead Road, Northampton. The venue has accessible parking, is wheelchair accessible and offers wheelchair-accessible seating. Reach out to Brenda McGuire at mcguireb@cattysd.org if these services are needed.

All seating is general seating. Advance ticket price is $10; a walk-up ticket is $12.

Please note the suggested age range for this performance is 9 years and older.

Face coverings are no longer mandatory on all CASD transportation vehicles, but are an optional tool that may be used due to a personal health condition or an increased level of protection from airborne-related illnesses.

Superintendent of Schools Robert Spengler recently announced this change in a letter on the CASD website. The change is made in accordance with a new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendation regarding face coverings. The new guidance went into effect Feb. 28.

Students and staff are reminded to be vigilant regarding personal and family health conditions and remain home if you exhibit symptoms.
