Reading adventures

PRESS PHOTOS BY DONNA GEWERTZ In addition to decorating her classroom door for Dr. Seuss' birthday and wearing a fashionable pair of Dr. Seuss eyeglasses, Sheckler Elementary School reading specialist Mrs. Thierer holds a basket of books used as prizes in her reading trivia contest March 2. The goal of the activities was to get students excited about reading for National Read Across America Day.
The students of Mrs. Grube's kindergarten class are all ears as Catasauqua High School guest reader Aiden Gerhard reads a selection from Dr. Seuss in recognition of the author's birthday.
CHS guest readers Avery Daku (rear, standing), Angele Diamacoune, Trisha Bloszinsky, Julianna Grate and Stewart Oakley (left to right) pose in front of the Dr. Seuss-themed door of Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit instructor Ms. Notareschi. The National Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss birthday activities at Sheckler Elementary included a classroom door decorating contest.
“A Bad Case of Stripes” was the choice of guest reader Hannah Kurczeski (rear, center) for her visit with Mr. Zieber's fourth-grade class. Many CHS students came to Sheckler classrooms to be guest readers for the day, a tradition in Catasauqua Area School District.
