Every Wednesday, the people of Catasauqua line up at Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St. The church offers free takeout soup 4:30-6 p.m. midweek for the community.
The action is the heaviest at the 4:30 p.m. start time, and the crew reportedly ladles approximately 130 containers every week.
The soup offerings change each week. At the Feb. 23 distribution, the church provided French onion soup and sweet pea and ham bisque. The March 2 event featured chicken noodle with vegetables, ham and sweet pea bisque and turkey barbecue.
The quality of the soups has been lauded as superb. Pastor Brian Riedy and his kitchen crew are praised for their offerings each week.
