While safety fencing has closed the sidewalk and cuts off the view of the lower portion of the site, this bright yellow armed claw could be seen removing a corner of the structure. DLP Realty is developing a six-story apartment building on the site. The 1,200-seat Kurtz Theater opened in 1921 as a vaudeville showcase and later transitioned to showing moving pictures. The Boyd Theater, as it was called in its later years, closed its doors in 2011.
