Howard J. Snyder
Howard J. Snyder, 82, of Germansville, died peacefully, Feb. 25, 2022, in his home.
He was the husband of Carol M. (Baer) Snyder to whom he was married 60 years.
Born April 9, 1939, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Grace C. (Schellhamer) Snyder.
He was a potato farmer in Heidelberg Township for 53 years before retiring in 2000.
Before that, he worked on his family’s dairy farm in Berks County.
He was co-owner with his brother-in-law Carson Baer, of PA Potato Supply Co., New Tripoli.
He was a member of Goodwill Fire Co. No. 1, Germansville, and Community Fire Co., New Tripoli.
He was Haaptmann of the Pennsilfaanisch Deitsch Zammelaaf which were originally held at Lynnport Fire Company and later the Virginville Grange. He will be forever remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, and Pappy whose love of his family was most important.
He enjoyed traveling and wherever he went, he wanted to see the land and realize it’s beauty for which he had profound respect.
His presence and sense of humor were larger than life and so was his love for everyone around him.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by children Gary H. Snyder (Helenmary) of Blandon, Jill C. Snyder (Neil Reiff) of Conshohocken, Kim S. Davey (Jim) of Wallingford; granddaughter, Taylor K. Davey of Wallingford; siblings Ronald C. Snyder and Sandra M. Snyder, both of Kempton; brother-in-law Carson F. Baer (Judy) of New Tripoli; and numerous extended beloved family.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. March 3 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with Pastor Wally F. Frisch officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
