Darlene A. Rex
Darlene A. Rex, 91, formerly of Whitehall, died Feb. 26, 2022, in Ocean University Medical Center, Brick, N.J.
She was the wife of the late Reynold M. Rex.
Born Oct. 28, 1930, in Egypt, Whitehall Township, she was the daughter of the late Dallas J. and Edna M. (Wotring) Hoffman.
She was a secretary and Dictaphone operator at Equifax Inc., Allentown, from 1976-83.
She was also the bookkeeper for her husband’s company, Reynold M. Rex Builder, for 39 years before retiring in 1998.
Active in the life of her church and community, she was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall, where she formerly sang with the choir, and was a member of the Altar Guild and ELCW.
Additionally, she was a charter member of the Whitehall Township Women’s Club, 50-year member of Rose Croix Chapter 235, O.E.S., Catasauqua, life member of the Woman’s Auxiliary of Albright College and Muhlenberg College.
She also was a member of the Auxiliary of The Lutheran Home at Topton, and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Lehigh Consistory.
Her survivors include daughters Reylene A. Starego and her husband, Raymond, with whom she resided in Brick, and Janell H. Rex of Billerica, Mass.; brother Carvel D. Hoffman of Bethlehem; and grandson Anthony J. Starego of Brick.
She was predeceased by sisters Erna R. Feidler and Leona R. Heil.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. March 4 in Zentz Community Center, Fellowship Community, 3020 Fellowship Drive, Whitehall, with the Rev. Philip E. Yerrington officiating.
Family and friends may pay their respects 10-11 a.m. in Zentz Center.
Interment will follow the service at Egypt Cemetery.
