Schools celebrating Dr. Seuss

Special to The Press
Salisbury Elementary School will join schools across the country in celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America week Feb. 28 through March 4. There are fun themes each day. I hope all the students have a fun-filled week.
The next school board work session meeting will be held 7 p.m. March 2 in the administration building.
All students in SES will dismiss 1:15 p.m. the week of March 7 for the spring parent teacher conferences. This is a great opportunity to talk with your student’s teacher about how they are doing and see some of the leadership skills your child is developing as they lead their conference. Look for information on registering for a time slot.
March 10 will be the next SES T-shirt day.
All Salisbury Township schools will be closed March 11 for a teacher in-service day. School will resume March 14.
SES will hold a STEM family night 6-7 p.m. March 14. Look for more information to be sent home with your children. Light snacks will be offered.
The next school board meeting will be 7:30 p.m. March 16 in the administration building.
Salisbury Theatre will present “Rent School Edition” 7 p.m. March 10, 11 and 12 and 2 p.m. March 13. Tickets may be purchased in advance at https://salisburysd.hometownticketing.com/embed/all or at the door. Cash, checks (made payable to Salisbury Theatre) or credit cards will be accepted at the door. For questions regarding tickets and seating, contact Cherie Pennella at 610-797-4107, ext. 2508. For other questions, contact salisburytheatre@salisburysd.org.
According to the director Shannon O’Grady, “Rent is a beautiful show about community and chosen family, but it also has adult themes and may not be appropriate for most kids under 12.”
The United States Air Force will be at Salisbury High School 10:20 a.m. March 8. Lehigh Carbon Community College will be at the high school 1 p.m. March 8 and DeSales University will be at the high school 10:20 a.m. March 14. Interested seniors and juniors must email Mrs. Martinez (smartinez@salisburysd.org) at least one day prior to the college visit in order to receive a pass to participate in the visit(s) of your choosing. Please note, junior students are not eligible for Immediate Decision Days or Application Seminars.
Don’t forget as we start to see longer days, daylight saving time starts March 13, so remember to spring your clocks forward.
