LeRoy J. Silvius, 77, formerly of Muhlenberg Township, died Feb. 20, 2022, in Pennsburg Manor. He was the husband of the late Phyllis J. Brown. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Erwin and Katherine (Bieber) Silvius.
He was a 1962 graduate of Emmaus High School.
As a teenager, he was a photographer at Nazareth Speedway, which started his love of racing. He drove his 1957 Chevy in the Allentown Drag Races.
He was a mechanic, working for Brightbill and Kreitz and paid wrench for Dave Kelly Racing, winning five championships and URC mechanic of the year. Later he worked at American Beverage and retired as a parts runner for Bob Fisher Chevrolet. He also helped Ray and Aleia Geisler Racing.
He is survived by a son, James R. and his wife, Ann E., of Coopersburg; a grandson, Jeremy. He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred D. Eck.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
