Frank “Bonna” J. Burker, 93, of North Catasauqua, died Feb. 24, 2022. He was the husband of the late Regina (Cunningham) Burker.
Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Mary (Szabara) and Lukas Burker.
He attended Northampton High School.
He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He earned the rank of corporal and was the recipient of two Bronze Stars.
He was an assembler and auto mechanic for 32 years for Mack Trucks before he retired in 1987.
He was a member of St. John Fisher Roman Catholic Church, North Catasauqua. He was previously a member of the former St. Lawrence the Martyr Roman Catholic Church, North Catasauqua, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society.
He was a lifelong member of VFW Post 4714, Northampton.
He is survived by two sons, David with Claudette and James with MaryEllen, both of North Catasauqua; four grandchildren, Dani, Justin, Patrick and Cristian; a sister, Anna Hammel of Northampton; nieces; and nephews.
He was predeceased by six siblings, John, Joseph, George, Stephen, Theresa Hadik and Rose Marakovits; and an infant grandson, Nathan.
There will be a calling time 9-10:30 a.m. March 3 at the funeral home, 234 Walnut St., Catasauqua, followed by a Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m. at the church, 1239 Third St., North Catasauqua.
