Boutique returns to the Rink

Many attributes of the Boutique at the Rink have remained the same for decades. Every year since its inception, the sale has dedicated all of its profits to support cancer organizations; it has been held at the Earl E. Schaffer Municipal Ice Rink in Bethlehem, with the exception of a brief time in the 70s; has been run exclusively by volunteers; and has been fueled by the generosity of the Bethlehem and surrounding communities. Local companies offer monetary and in-kind services, while local media sources help with advertising.

Community members and volunteers donate items to be sold, purchase items at the sale, and often offer monetary donations as well. Last year, over 300 volunteers gave over 15,000 hours of their time to make the Boutique a success.

Over the years, the Boutique has grown and become a finely tuned operation, reflecting the power fo the cuase and passion of the community. Organizers will be closely monitoring the CDC guidelines to ensure a safe experience for volunteers and shoppers.

The Boutique at the Rink engages over 5,000 community members through opportunities to donate, volunteer, shop and sponsor each year. In recent years the event has raised over $250,000 each year to benefit the Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley, St. Luke’s Cancer Center and St. Luke’s Hospice. After the hardships we have all endured over the past two years, we are looking forward to making this year’s event even more successful than ever before.

Donations will be accepted at the Ice Rink on Illick’s Mill Road between May 6-21. The sale runs from May 31-June 4. To volunteer, contact Jen Gibbs at 610-861-7555 or jgibbs@cancersupportglv.org. If you would like to make a monetary contribution, mail it to: The Boutique at the Rink, PO Box 1231, Bethlehem, PA 18016. They look forward to your support!
