The Lehigh Valley Music Teachers Association holds its 40th annual “Playathon” music marathon fundraiser, Feb. 26 and 27, Lehigh Valley Mall, Whitehall.

Hundreds of local music students are to perform popular and classical music at locations throughout the mall, 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Feb. 26 and 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Feb. 27.

Students solicit pledges from family and friends for the event, which is the organization’s sole fundraising source.

Proceeds fund music events in the Lehigh Valley, including music festivals at area colleges, master classes and recitals, performances, scholarships for students pursuing a music degree in college, and summer music camp scholarships.

The “Playathon” is sponsored by Jacobs Music which is providing three grand pianos for use during the event.

Sponsors include Utz Brands, Just Born, Wegmans and Provident Bank.
