Library friends having book sale March 10

The Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is now requiring masks regardless of vaccination status for everyone age 2 and older. Patrons who have tested positive for COVID-19, are waiting for COVID-19 test results, have COVID-19 symptoms, or have had close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has symptoms of COVID-19, are not to attend in-person programs and should chose online programs, when available.

The Friends of Parkland Community library are having a March Madness book sale 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 10 at the library.

Bring totes and stock up on books, CDs, DVDs and more.

Cash or checks, only.

The library will host a practice SAT exam for teens 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 26 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

Movie Night Food Festival with Chef Rob for adults will be 3-4 p.m. on Feb. 26 via Facebook.

Menu will include pizza nachos, shrimp scampi flatbread and cinnamon white-hot chocolate with marshmallow stirrers

Recipes will be sent to all participants who register for the festival. Drop-ins are welcome.

Join yoga instructor Deanna Nagle for her gentle yoga for adults 4 p.m. March 1 and 8 at the library.

She will guide participants through a range of motions to improve energy and focus, decrease pain in the body, and calm the central nervous system.

Adults are invited to join Stephen, the cat behaviorist, for a virtual program titled “Decoding the Mysteries of Cats” 6:30-7:30 p.m. March 1.

The Senior Coffee Club will meet from 10-11 a.m. March 3 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

A STEAM-based Tinkerlab for kids entering third through fifth grades will be offered 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on March 3 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

The library’s monthly bingo game will take place 1-2 p.m. March 4 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

A Fairy-tale Story Time for kids ages 3 and older will be presented at 10 a.m. March 5 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

This month’s theme is fairy tales.

A DIY Greeting Cards class for adults will be offered 11 a.m. to noon March 5 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

All skill levels are welcome. Materials will be provided.

A Teen Dungeon and Dragons Night in-person meeting for students in seventh through 12th grades will take place from 6-8 p.m. March 7 at the library.

The library will be hosting a Bunny Hop dance party for kids ages 2-5 from 10-10:30 a.m. March 8 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

The biweekly Facebook video series “Let’s Talk Books” for adults will be offered 10:30 a.m. March 8 to spotlight a new book at the library.

The library’s Senior Book Club will meet from 3-4 p.m. March 8 to discuss the novel “Pachinko” by Min Jin Lee at Luther Crest Retirement Community, 800 Hausman Road, South Whitehall.

The library will host a dementia support group 3:30-4:30 p.m. March 9 in the Carol and Perry Meeting Rooms at the library.

This informational and supportive group will help participants learn more about the disease as well as their feelings about the changes it has made on their daily lives.

The Teen’s Anime Club for kids in grades six through 12 will meet to watch a selected anime and chat while eating snacks 6:30 p.m. March 9 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Room at the library.

Short Story Society will meet to discuss the novel “Girl” by Jamaica Kincaid 3-4 p.m. March 10 via Zoom.

Adult writers, come and join other writers at the library’s The Write Stuff program 6-8 p.m. March 10 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

Registration is needed to attend all the programs except the Senior Coffee club, dementia group, Teen Anime Club and Dungeon and Dragons Night, and Let’s Talk Books.
