LCCC students have access to tuition, emergency funds

Lehigh Carbon Community College students who have been impacted by COVID-19 have access to a variety of grants through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III and the American Rescue Plan and can use these funds to support their education for the spring semester.

Students who have faced unexpected educational expenses or financial hardship related to the pandemic can apply for these grants. More than 2,000 students have received funding so far. Students do not need to complete the FAFSA for these funds.

Those who need assistance paying their tuition can apply for financial aid, scholarships and the federal stimulus funds. They can also set up payment plans to spread the payments over the semester.

It is important for students to remember they will not be dropped for nonpayment, so they will need to drop classes themselves or it will continue to show the student is enrolled in a class, resulting in a possible failing grade or incomplete at the end of the semester.

Students can get financial assistance to cover tuition for credit and noncredit courses plus added expenses if eligible.

In addition, grants can also assist with expenses such as food, housing and utility costs, transportation costs, child care and health care.

To apply, students should complete the online application found on the myLCCC portal. Click on Apply for Scholarships under My Finances in the Launchpad on the left side of the screen. Or go to LCCC.edu/scholarships and click the Apply for Scholarships link.

Funding is limited and is not guaranteed.

All tuition payments are due at the time of registration. Current students can register or make payment online through my.LCCC.edu.

Spring classes began Jan. 18, and students are able to register through Aug. 27.
