Holy Trinity meal benefits library

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., Catasauqua, held a meatloaf pickup dinner Feb. 19 in the church social hall.

The church adhered to its credo of holding dinners to benefit other organizations. Proceeds of this dinner are earmarked for the Public Library of Catasauqua.

A number of church volunteers assembled in the church fellowship room and kitchen to cook and serve the takeout meals. The meatloaf was accompanied by mashed potatoes, peas, roll with butter and a chocolate brownie.

The library, located at Bridge and Third streets, has more than 1,800 books and items in the library for the community to review or borrow. It hosts children’s storytime events, tween group and book club meetings and Keep Me in Stitches gatherings.

For more information about the library or its activities, visit catasauquapl.org.

The library mission is “to encourage reading for pleasure and knowledge, to promote lifelong learning through print and electronic resources and to offer services and programs that encourage personal growth, thereby contributing to the quality of life of the communities it serves.”

Cheerful church volunteers Janice Charvala, Lucy Lynn and Mary Farner sold tickets at the event. In the kitchen were Rick Martson, Pastor Brian Riedy, Vickie Chimics and John Tiel. Several others occupied the role of food distributors, including Diane Czar.

They were all happy with providing up to 150 dinners to raise funds for the library. Charvala noted the Holy Trinity church team just wants to help.

Holy Trinity already has the next food event set for late March. This pickup meal features a kielbasi dinner, complete with vegetables, roll with butter and a dessert.
