Have a blast at Emmaus’ SnowBlast Arts Festival

Emmaus’ SnowBlast, the popular winter arts festival, will be held noon to 4 p.m. March 5. The event features live music, community art projects, ice sculpting, food trucks and family friendly activities at the Triangle, throughout participating downtown businesses and at the library.
Drop in all day March 5 for SnowBlast crafting in the library’s children’s wing. The library, 11 E. Main St., will have snowflake crafts, snow displays and projects with supplies for all ages. There will also be a showing of the movie, “Frozen II,” (PG) 10:30 a.m.
Some March programs at the library include Spring Book Bingo and daytime and evening book groups. There will be a Pinterest Party@Home to make Leprechaun hats from the library’s craft kits. All supplies are provided except scissors and glue. Limit four kits per family. Pick up kits at the front desk starting March 4.

If you are interested in writing you are invited to join the creative writing group with Pat Johnson, 1 p.m. March 15.
The little builders of preschool and elementary ages and their caretakers are invited to be with Miss Sue as she opens the block cabinet in the children’s wing 11 a.m. March 5 and make amazing things together.
Are you thinking spring? The library offers free packets of seeds with your library checkout. The seeds are donations from Lowe’s and SeedWay. You’ll find them in the drawers formerly used to house the card catalog, just past the circulation desk. Pick out your seed packets (limit two of each variety) and take them to the desk along with your library card.
If you have the space, consider planting an extra row for Plant A Row Lehigh Valley. Donated garden and grocery produce is picked up at the library every week throughout the summer and distributed to local pantries and food banks.
The library is also looking for students, families and/or community groups to create decorations for each of the 18 holes in the Tee Time at the Library mini-golf event April 29 and 30. St. Ann School, 435 S. Sixth St., will present its spring musical, “Little Mermaid Jr.” March 11 and 12. The musical, under the direction of Denise Binder with music direction by Ariel Scholz, includes students from fourth to eighth grades. Shows are 6:30 p.m. March 11 and 2 and 6:30 p.m. March 12. The Emmaus Farmers Market is open for its winter market, 10 a.m. to noon on the second and fourth Sunday of the month through April at Triangle Park on Main Street in Emmaus. Come out and visit the vendors, browse through the merchandise on sale and be entertained by musical groups.
Lucky Bucks Bingo will be held March 13 at Bethel Bible Fellowship Church, 418 Elm St. Doors open 2 p.m. with bingo 3 to 6 p.m. The event also includes a 50/50 and basket raffle. Refreshments will be available. Tickets can be purchased at David’s Electric, Emmaus Jewel Shop or the Emmaus Historical Society.
The Emmaus Garden Club will meet noon March 1 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 3002 N. Second St., Emmaus. The program will be “All Things Turf,” by John Chassard, grounds director at Lehigh Country Club. Come and hear all about organic/integrated pest management approaches to turf grass management at Lehigh Country Club. Attendees will learn solutions to lawn care challenges. Emmaus Borough Council meets 7 p.m. March 7 and 21 in the basement at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 139 N. Fourth St. Emmaus. Council meetings are also available via Zoom.

The Emmaus Historical Society’s Museum, 218 Main St., will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 26 and starting in March, will be back to regular hours, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Masks are currently required in the museum. Stop by for a visit and learn more about this history-filled community. Plans for resuming member meetings and programs are currently being reviewed.
The society has scheduled the following bus trips for 2022: May 24, “I Left My Dignity in My Other Purse” at Hunterdon Hills Playhouse; Aug. 16, “David” at Sight & Sound Theater and Nov. 22, “Home for the Holidays” at the American Music Theater. The society’s museum committee appreciates all donations of memorabilia that came from, was used or enjoyed by those in Emaus/Emmaus. The Emmaus Historical Society’s 2022 membership drive is in full swing. It is time to renew, join or give a gift of membership by stopping by the museum Saturdays. For the current members who haven’t paid their dues yet, membership dues must be paid by March 31 to vote in the upcoming elections. New members of the society who join by April 30 will have a membership through Dec. 31, 2023.
